Curacorn has been changing the lives of those with painful corns and calluses for years

now, it’s your turn.

It’s time to walk, run and live without nagging pain from stubborn calluses or corns.

Having corns and calluses on your feet that regularly recur (or never really go away) can be extremely frustrating, uncomfortable, and disruptive. We hear this from our patients every single day. While using padding or toe protectors can help, they can also be bulky or uncomfortable and make your feet and toes feel much more cramped in your shoes.

If you’re looking for an effective, innovative, long-lasting solution for painful corns and calluses, you’ve come to the right place. At present, our Tauranga clinic is one of the only facilities in the country with experienced podiatrists who have completed the Curacorn specialist training to be able to offer this treatment for corns and calluses, alongside our other treatment options. While we work extensively with children, adults and older adults to remove corns, reduce calluses and relieve the pain associated with both, the Curacorn treatment is only available for those aged 18 years and older, as it uses an injection technique.

Get a foot up on painful  corns and calluses

Our podiatrists work extensively in treating corns and calluses, and helping you get the best outcomes. Curacorn is the perfect addition to our suite of treatment options because it is the only method that gets ‘beneath’ the corns and calluses to provide a cushioning effect to relieve pain and discomfort effectively.

If you’ve got a corn or callus either on the bottom of your feet or between the toes that have arisen due to pressure (which is the case in most cases), then your comfort on your feet may be about to skyrocket with Curacorn.

How Does Curacorn Work?

Curacorn involves your accredited podiatrist injecting a specially formulated, high-viscosity hyaluronic acid (HA) gel directly beneath the problematic corn or callus. You may have heard of the extensive use of hyaluronic acid in skincare - it’s a naturally occurring substance in the body known for its cushioning and hydrating properties. By injecting the gel below the problem area, Curacorn creates a "pillow effect" that reduces pressure and friction, leading to quick and long-lasting pain relief.

We love that Curacorn:

  • Offers results that can last up to 18 months, reducing the need for frequent podiatry visits and optimising your comfort and safety during this time.

  • Is painless - the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic

  • Has minimal downtime, with most people back to their normal activities within 24 hours after the treatment.

  • Is very safe - hyaluronic acid is a natural, biocompatible substance with few side effects.

  • Is incredibly convenient, eliminating the need for bulky padding, repetitive debridement procedures with a podiatrist, and ongoing discomfort.

Who Is Curacorn For?

We’ve found Curacorn to be ideal for those:

  • With persistent corns between their toes or on the tops or bottoms of hammer toes

  • With calluses, corns and pressure points on the soles of the feet, especially at the heel and forefoot (the ball of the foot)

  • Who have lost some of their natural foot padding, which can naturally happen with age as we grow older

  • Who have corns and calluses resulting from high-impact sports and related foot injuries

  • With health conditions such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, which complicate traditional corn and callus treatments

What Does A Curacorn Appointment Look Like?

We break your treatment into three ‘stages’: your initial consultation, your treatment(s), and a follow-up to ensure we’re both seeing the results we want.

Corns And Calluses: A Recap

If you’re not sure exactly what a corn or callus is, and why you’re getting them on your feet or toes, here’s a simple breakdown. A callus is an area or patch of thickened skin. Callus development is actually quite natural - your body detects that an area of your foot is ] exposed to high levels of friction or pressure that may cause the skin to break and open. Instead of letting that happen (which would be very sore and pose an infection risk), your body thickens the skin in that area, helping it withstand the friction better. Pretty handy, right?

A corn is similar to callus - it’s also a thickened area of dead skin caused by pressure or friction. The difference here is that corns occur at very specific points, often being very small (2mm - 20mm), and move deeper into the skin in a conical shape. This can make them notably more painful when they develop in an area that comes in direct contact with the ground or another toe. Unfortunately, once calluses and corns build up to certain thicknesses, they tend to become uncomfortable and even painful, placing greater pressure on the tissues, joints and bones beneath.

Even when corns and calluses are removed (debrided) unless that pressure and friction go away too, your body will keep trying to protect itself, and they’ll redevelop. This is where Curacorn comes in to provide underlying cushioning and padding so your skin does not react the same way to regrow the corn or callus - or at the least at a much slower rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, absolutely. The hyaluronic acid used in Curacorn is a biocompatible substance (meaning it doesn’t cause harm when entering the body) with a well-established safety profile, commonly used in various medical and cosmetic treatments. Millions of people get fillers for their faces every week (generally speaking).

  • Curacorn is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have allergies to local anaesthetics, have had recent cortisone injections, have local tumours or infections, or are under 18 years old (without a specialised review).

  • Most people get significant relief after 1-3 treatments, depending on the size and severity of their corns and calluses. Some need only one!

  • It is advised not to drive for 12 hours after the treatment only because your foot is involved in driving, and we use anaesthetic on your foot, which compromises your ability to feel exactly what you’re doing with it.

  • For the next two days (48 hours), try not to place excess pressure on the treated corns or calluses and keep the foot dry for the first 24 hours. We can show you a range of plastic-bag-over-the-foot techniques for showers and baths!

  • We offer a Curacorn package for $1800 (incl GST) which includes up to 3 sessions. A single session is $700 per session. If you have an additional corn to be treated (more than 1 requiring treatment) it will be $350 (incl GST) per an additional corn.

  • Many people get a solid 12-18 months of relief, though this really does depend on your unique circumstances, foot structure, and other factors. After examining your feet, your podiatrist will be able to give you a better estimate at your initial appointment.

Why Choose Us For Your Corn And Callus Care?

While Curacorn is used extensively in the UK and worldwide, we are one team of less than a handful of accredited clinics at the time of writing. We have undergone specialist training to offer this to our patients and are definitely the only clinic within our region.

We decided to invest in offering Curacorn because painful and problematic corns and calluses are a significant issue for many of our patients, who want a more long-lasting way to manage their symptoms. It’s important to you - so it’s important to us. As a clinic dedicated to staying up-to-date with new clinical evidence, research, and the availability of products that offer the best outcomes without compromising on safety and convenience for our patients, getting accredited for Curacorn was a no-brainer. Our podiatrists will always try to go above and beyond because your feet are in the best hands with us.

03 - Review Appointment

Approximately one month after your treatment, we may review your progress to ensure we’re both happy with the results.

If you’ve had subsequent Curacorn injections, this may be completed at the same time as your other appointments. Your podiatrist will guide you on this and how to help you get the best and long-lasting results from your treatment.

01 - First curacorn visit

We start by examining your feet, corns and calluses, understand what’s causing them, and confirming your suitability for the Curacorn treatment. We consider your medical history, medications, foot structure and biomechanics, and overall corn and callus history.

If you have the green light for Curacorn, we give you anaesthetic, making the treatment painless. We inject the first layer of hyaluronic acid gel into your foot. We may apply some temporary padding to help get the best results and keep you comfortable. This can typically be removed the next day. Your podiatrist will determine whether you'll need any more sessions.

02 - Second curacorn visit

If any follow-up sessions are needed, additional layers of the gel will be applied beneath the targeted corns and calluses to enhance the durability of the treatment. Again, this is done under local anaesthetic.
